THE COURTS
→ T-Shirt and MuralThe Courts was a DIY skatepark that existed from Summer 2020 to Summer 2024 on Portland State’s campus. It was a community project that became a second home to me.
I lent my creativity to the Courts by painting a mural there and designing this commemorative t-shirt for the end of it’s existence on PSU campus.
The Courts is a unique community project where skaters brought homemade obstacles to a dormant concrete tennis court on PSU campus during the height of the pandemic. Through the efforts of skater and PSU student Nick Pelster, the school eventually sanctioned the space until the time came for the new PSU Art Building to break ground there in 2024.
When the day finally came and the ramps and boxes were hauled off to other DIY skate spots around town, the spirit of The Courts endures. To commemorate the end of an era, I volunteered to design and print this shirt, donating the proceeds to Skaters for Portland Skateparks.
