Hi! I’m a designer, illustrator and screen printer in Portland, Oregon—steeped in skateboarding and music culture, I love print media, DIY publishing and building creative community, and I approach design as an art practice.

Work in Progress:

Permission Slip

Permission Slip is a magazine I’ve been working on with some friends.  We’ll be announcing a call for submissions soon

The Name
The general theme of the magazine is giving yourself Permission to Slip... as in, to slip up, to make mistakes, to slip into something more comfortable: something like flow state. It’s based around the idea that the journey is more important than the destination when it comes to creativity.

The Origin
My friend Quinn and I were talking about both wanting to start a magazine while browsing at Partly, and we decided to join forces. We added our friend Della and through several conversations landing on the name Permission Slip.

I’m a huge fan of fancy coffee-table magazines from independent publishers, and Portland is a hot bed of indie publishing goodness, from shops like Chess Club, Hi Books and Partly to mags like Cult Classic and Joon.

Identity Explorations
We’re still developing the brand identity of the mag, but here’s a taste of what we’ve been working on:

Website Draft
I’ve been working on a website that will provide more info as well as give contributors a place to submit.

...Stay tuned!
