Bloom coffee roasters

Brand Identity
Mock Project
I created branding for a (fictional) coffee roastery and cafe that strikes the perfect balance of high quality coffee, and neighborhood vibes.

Bloom is a fictional coffee roaster and cafe that I imagined as a branding exercise. It has that rare balance of consistently great coffee and familiar  neighborhood vibes that make it home to artists and shop regulars, without influencer hype.

Bloom would need branding that sets it apart from the slew of other third-wave coffee companies.  Many coffee roasters have branding that follows into uninspired tropes (think lifeless minimalism, or that “industrial vibe” that no one asked for).

The name bloom takes inspiration from both the ‘bloom’ of freshly ground coffee when the hot water hits is, as well as the flowers of the coffee plant, which bloom in dense clusters.  I created an expressive hand-lettered wordmark and illustrations that imagine the coffee flowers as individuals coming together around great coffee.

Bloom is a gathering place where people come together over great coffee, and the daily interactions between baristas & shop regulars make the space feel perfectly broken-in.  It’s dedicated to consistently high quality, but it’s heart and soul is in the creative community and neighborhood regulars who frequent it.
